Sister Eckersley, an invalid for over a year and unable to walk without assistance, was baptized into the Church. Upon receiving the ordinance of baptism, she was immediately enabled to walk without assistance.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 63, No. 33, 15 August 1901, p. 525):
Sister Eckersley, of the Wigan Branch, who had been an invalid for over a year, and unable to walk without assistance, was baptized into the Church on July 21, by Elder Joseph Eckersley. Upon receiving the ordinance of baptism, she was immediately enabled to walk without assistance, and has since been in the enjoyment of good health.
In Their Own Words
“Sister Eckersley is an invalid, but on being baptized she was able to walk without assistance—something she had not done for upwards of a twelvemonth. — Millennial Star 63:33”
