A lady whose husband and herself had treated the Elders with kindness was taken severely sick. Local doctors attended her for several weeks, but she continued to worsen and was finally given up to die. Upon the return of the Elders to the neighborhood, she requested they visit and administer to her. After repeatedly laying their hands upon her and offering prayer, she was healed of her illness, which had confined her to her bed for ten weeks. Shortly thereafter, she was able to walk to the meeting house and was baptized by the servants of God. She later gathered with the Saints in Southern Colorado.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 43, No. 4, January 24, 1881):

A lady whose husband and herself had treated the Elders with kindness was taken severely sick. Local doctors attended her for several weeks, but she continued to worsen and was finally given up to die. The Elders having returned to that neighborhood from a tour in another county, this lady sent for them to come and administer to her. They repaired to such an ordinance in their behalf, and found that what they taught was given in the New Testament. They laid their hands upon her, at her earnest request, and after repeating the ordinance several times, with prayer and supplication, she was delivered of sickness from which she had been confined for ten weeks. She soon walked to the water, and was baptized by the servants of God. Numbers who witnessed it were struck with astonishment. She has since then been gathered with the Saints in Southern Colorado.

She has since then been gathered with the Saints in Southern Colorado. — Millennial Star 43:4”
