Sarah Goode, who had suffered from chronic lameness, was healed through the administration of the Elders in the South Shields area.
Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 40, No. 34, 26 August 1878, p. 541):
South Shields, August 14th, 1878. Dear Brother Budge, I write to inform you of a case of healing that has occurred in this branch. Sister Sarah Goode, who has been a member of the Church for some time, has been suffering from chronic lameness for the last two years, and for the last six months has been unable to walk without the aid of a crutch. She had been under the doctor's care for a long time, but received no benefit. On the 11th of August, she requested the Elders to administer to her. Elders Thomas M. Margetts and John H. Burrows attended to the ordinance, and through the power of God she was enabled to lay aside her crutch, and she walked home, a distance of about a mile, and has been able to walk ever since, and is now quite well. We feel to rejoice in this manifestation of the power of God, and we know that the gifts of the Gospel are still with the Church. Your brother in the Gospel, Thomas M. Margetts.
