Mrs. Wade, who had been a cripple with rheumatism for thirteen years and was considered incurable by doctors at the Leeds Infirmary, was administered to by seven Elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. President Abraham M. Hill sealed the anointing and promised her a complete recovery. Two days later, Mrs. Wade was found doing laundry, completely healed of her condition. She and several of her children subsequently joined the Church.

In Their Own Words

“In accordance with the lady’s request, seven of the Elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints laid their hands upon her head after she had been anointed with oil. President Abraham M. Hill, in sealing the anointing, promised her health and a complete recovery to their proper functions of all afflicted parts. The second day following our administration, Elders McMurrin, Broadbent, and myself called at the home of this good woman, and found her with her sleeves up and her hands in the washtub—an act that she had not performed for years. The entire family rejoiced because of her condition, for she had been completely healed, and all trace of rheumatism had entirely disappeared.”
