Healing of Mrs. Lucy Sturmy's Daughter

“It is with a heart full of thankfulness to my Heavenly Father, and to show my gratitude to Him for His wonderful power and goodness manifested to me, that I wish to bear witness to the following facts concerning the restoring of sight to my little girl, who is now thirteen months old. The child was born with very weak eyes and never could endure the light, either natural or artificial. Last January, at the request of my mother, Mrs. Anne Belcher, who has been a faithful Latter-day Saint for some years, two Elders came to see me in Cheltenham, and explained the principles of the Gospel to me as they understand it, and as they declare it has been restored from heaven in these latter days, including the gift of healing and other signs promised by Jesus Christ to those who believed. After listening attentively to their words, and earnestly desiring that my child should be healed, I had sufficient faith to ask them to anoint her with oil, according to the words of the Apostle James. They agreed to spend the next day in fasting and prayer and come again the following evening. I fasted and prayed also, and the result was that after being administered to, the child at once began to amend. When they called again a few days later, her eyes had become a little weaker again (I suppose the Lord was trying my faith) but they anointed her again at my request, and within a fortnight from the first administration her eyes were as well and strong as those of any ordinary child; and now after five months she still continues to enjoy this precious gift of sight without any apparent weakness or defect, or any evidence to show that her eyes were ever affected in any way.— Millennial Star 61:21”
