Mrs. Letita Hufton, who had suffered from epilepsy for thirty-six years, experienced a dramatic healing after being anointed with oil and prayed for by Elders Thomas A. Condie and Cecil Woodward. Following the ordinance, she went to sleep and upon waking declared she felt she would have no more fits. Over twelve months later, she remained free of the affliction.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 67, No. 31, August 3, 1905, p. 494):
Mrs. Letita Hufton, of Leeds, who had been a sufferer from epilepsy for thirty-six years, was administered to by Elders Thomas A. Condie and Cecil Woodward. She went to sleep, and on waking declared she felt she would have no more fits. She has been free from the affliction for over twelve months.
In Their Own Words
“The person whom the Lord has blessed in this case is a lady by the name of Mrs. Letita Hufton, with whom two of the missionaries, Elders Thomas A. Condie and Cecil Woodward, were boarding. She had suffered with epilepsy for thirty-six years. Some twelve months ago she was attacked very severely, and the last fit she had, her husband and neighbors thought she would never survive. It was during this time that Elder Condie thought of the greatest Physician of all, and he therefore offered up a prayer, asking for guidance, as he had faith that Mrs. Hufton was a good lady and that she could be healed. He then asked her husband if they could anoint her, and the husband said: 'Yes, if you like, but it will do no good.' Elder Condie then got some oil, and assisted by Elder Woodward, he anointed her. While they were sealing the anointing the lady became very quiet, and went to sleep. When she awoke she told Elder Woodward that she felt she would have no more fits. From that day to this, which is more than twelve months ago, she has not had one. — Millennial Star 67:31”
