A brother of Mrs. Ferguson, who had been suffering for years with a running sore on his leg and was told by doctors he would lose his limb, was administered to by the Elders. He experienced immediate improvement and was nearly healed.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, 1 December 1904 (Vol. 66, No. 48), page 766):
A brother of Mrs. Ferguson, who had been suffering for years with a running sore on his leg, and was told by doctors he would lose his limb, was administered to by the Elders. He experienced immediate improvement and was nearly healed.
In his letter dated November 7, 1904, to Elder Robert L. Anderson, Elder George W. Tolley provided additional context, noting that the administration occurred in Belfast. Elder Tolley further described their missionary work at that time, which included preaching in a carpenter shop eight miles from Belfast and facing local opposition from members of the Plymouth Brethren.
In Their Own Words
“We also administered to a brother of Mrs. Ferguson’s who had been suffering for years with a running sore on his leg. He began to improve immediately, and now he is nearly well. The doctors had told him that he would lose his leg. — George W. Tolley to Robert L. Anderson, November 7, 1904, in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, 1 December 1904 (Vol. 66, No. 48), page 755”
