While baptizing six new converts, including a lady over 75 years of age, Elder David R. Gill felt the power of God resting upon him during the ceremony. Additionally, he reports that their missionary work and out-door preaching in the district were blessed by God, resulting in the conversion of souls to their testimonies.
In Their Own Words
“On the 24th of July, while a great many were enjoying themselves in the Valleys of the Mountains, celebrating that day, I, too, enjoyed myself baptizing six persons. One of those was a lady over 75 years of age. There were several of the brethren and sisters there, and quite a number of strangers, to witness the ceremony and, before going into the water, we called them together and talked to them on the subject and importance of baptism, and the covenants they thereby make with God. I felt the power of God resting upon me, and all were baptized that were given in their names. Our out-door preaching in this district is being blessed of God, and we are getting the attention of the people, and some are beginning to see the truth of the Gospel as it is taught by the Latter-day Saints, and we hope to see more added to the Church in the near future.”
