David Buist, the President of the Dundee branch, suffered a paralytic stroke which left his left side almost entirely powerless and his speech impaired. Andrew Ferguson and another Elder administered to him with oil and the laying on of hands. Following the administration, he recovered rapidly and was shortly back at work. His wife, who is not a member of the Church, was present during the event.
In Their Own Words
“I may here mention a case of healing that came under our observation. Elder David Buist, President of the Dundee branch, was taken down with a paralytic stroke, the left side of his body being almost entirely powerless, his speech was also much affected. He sent for me and, on arriving at his bed side, we attended to the ordinance of anointing with oil and the laying on of hands; after which he received strength and was shortly at his work again. This was done in the presence of his wife, who is not a member of our Church, but her kindness to the elders is proverbial.”
