Alvin James's daughter Gladys developed severe blood poisoning from an infected knee. Despite medical treatment and strenuous nursing, she relapsed. During a moment of deep spiritual despair, Alvin prayed fervently for faith and guidance. He experienced a profound sense of divine peace and assurance, and upon rebuking the affliction in the name of the Lord, his daughter's condition immediately began to improve, leading to her recovery.
In Their Own Words
“Bowing his head and pouring out his troubled soul to the Lord he prayed as he had not done in years, and the Lord seemed to listen to every secret of his heart—every longing desire voiced, for he felt his depression lifting and in its place peace and assurance that all would be well. He turned and moved toward the daughter and exclaimed half aloud, “Lord, I thank Thee! I now understand!” ... Together the pain and poison of body and soul were slowly retreating. ... “Truly,” declared Alvin from the depths of a thankful heart, “God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform.” — The Young Woman's Journal 40:6”
