Elder H. C. Barrell, while laboring in Newport, sought to conduct genealogical research. His path was opened before him in a providential manner, allowing him to successfully secure over 200 names.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 51, No. 16, 22 April 1889, p. 251):

Elder H. C. Barrell, writing from Newport, says: 'I have been very successful in my genealogical researches, having secured over two hundred names, and my path has been opened before me in a most providential manner.'

In Their Own Words

“Brother H. C. Barrell also sends us, under date of April 16th, from Newport, a long and interesting letter which relates principally to matters of individual concern. From it we learn that he has had an agreeable experience in searching out genealogy in which he is interested; his way having been opened up before him in a providential manner. He has succeeded in securing over 200 names. — Millennial Star 51:16”
