Sister Florence Allsop, newly organized as president of a Primary Association in Hyde, was concerned about a specific unruly boy. She assigned him the role of door-keeper to encourage his good behavior. The boy responded immediately with exemplary conduct, enthusiastically claiming the job, and reported his new role to his mother. Sister Allsop also successfully entertained members of the I. O. G. T. with a program and distributed thirty-two tracts, attributing her success to the Lord.
In Their Own Words
“I talked to him on Sunday, and told him I was going to see how good he could be, as I wanted a good boy to act as door-keeper. My! he was good. He came to me after Sunday night meeting, and said, 'Please, Mrs. Allsop, am I good enough? Can I be your door-keeper?' ... The Good Templars' chief complimented me on the way that I had entertained them, so I turned to him and said, 'The Lord never forsakes those who are tuned with His instrument—the gospel.' — Millennial Star 78:43”
