A woman whose sister and brother-in-law were Saints in Salt Lake City told William Howes that her son had been healed from a serious illness the moment the Elder laid hands on him, in answer to prayer.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
I took lodgings with a Wesleyan family by the name of Gregory. The woman was very much opposed to the truth, and would not hear anything about it. Her sister and brother-in-law are members of the Church in Great Salt Lake City. She had a son very ill, and the doctors had given him up. I told her I would pray for him, and lay hands upon him. She said she did not believe in it, but I might do it if I liked. I did so, and the child was healed from that moment, and is now quite well. This had a great effect upon the mother, and she now attends our meetings, and is very anxious to learn the truth.
In Their Own Words
“But, said she, I told them that I could not believe it, for the Elder laid his hands upon this boy when very ill, and in answer to his prayer, from that moment he has been healed. — Millennial Star 12:10”
