Elder Z. Snow, while traveling home from his mission in Australia without funds, experienced several instances of divine provision. Upon reaching San Francisco, he found a vessel waiting for him as he had prayed, and sufficient funds to pay his passage. When he needed to travel from Melbourne to Sydney, a brother appeared who had received instructions that the missionaries were coming. Finally, when tasked to return home from Australia, Snow prayed for help, traveled 130 miles on foot, and arrived in Melbourne with his passage paid and his funds increased one hundred-fold.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
When on our way to San Francisco, without a dollar in our pockets, we began to plan how to get across the ocean. We had no money, but we had faith in God, and we knew that He would provide for us. So on we went; and on our arrival, to our surprise, the vessel was, and money enough in our pockets to pay our passage, but nothing left. We were then in a strange land, and had to look to the Lord for further guidance. As it was to Sydney we wanted to go, How shall we get from Melbourne to Sydney? was the next enquiry. We had no money, and we knew not what to do. But the Lord is mindful of His servants; and before we went on shore, we were saluted by a brother, to whom the Lord had sent word that we were coming, and to whom instructions had been given to be on the watch for us. He took us to his house, and provided for our wants. After staying there for a time, I felt it was time to move on. I prayed to him to help me, and started, first travelling 130 miles on foot in South Australia. I got here, my passage paid, and my two shillings had increased one hundred fold; so I had a little left.
