When W. G. Adamson was a boy, he contracted a severe illness that those around him believed would be fatal. His life was despaired of by all, but he and his mother prayed together, and he was restored to health following the administration of the ordinance of the Church for the healing of the sick.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 51, No. 2, 14 January 1889, page 20):

For instance, when but a boy, he contracted a severe illness and in accordance with the united prayers of his mother and himself he was restored to his accustomed health through the administration of the ordinance instituted in the Church for the healing of the sick; although at the time of this administration his life was despaired of by all who surrounded his bed; and on many occasions he has seen the providence of God manifested to assist the Latter-day Saints out of their difficulties in temporal, as well as in spiritual matters.

In Their Own Words
