Elder M. B. Wheelwright's Testimony of Miraculous Manifestations

Elder Matthew Bristow Wheelwright, a member of the 75th Quorum of Seventy from Ogden, Utah, while laboring in the British Mission's Sheffield Conference, bore witness before the congregation on November 24, 1878, to having personally witnessed divine manifestations of the power of God, including the healing of the sick and the raising of the dead. His missionary service in the Sheffield Conference, during which he bore this testimony, occurred between April 1878 and April 1879.

Elder M. B. Wheelwright bore his testimony, and spoke of the manifestations of the power of God he had witnessed in the healing of the sick, and even the raising of the dead, which had strengthened his faith in the Gospel.

“Elder Wheelwright felt it as well as a duty to bear his testimony of the great work he was engaged in. The Latter-day Saints were a peculiar people, but their peculiarity consisted in their practically carrying out the requirements of God’s servants. By doing so they commanded the blessings that were to follow believers. Had he seen the sick healed? Yes. The dead raised? Yes. And in many ways had he seen and heard the manifestations of the power of God. — Millennial Star 40:49”
