While performing baptisms in an open stream in Crowborough, the weather was bitter cold with a keen north wind. The elders prayed for the elements to be tempered. Immediately the weather became warm enough for the ordinance, and the water seemed to be warmed many degrees.

In Their Own Words

“Two new members were added to the Church in Essex (London conference) on the 23rd inst. The converts were baptized in an open stream at Crowborough, by Elders Lewis O. Clark and William Smith. A marvelous manifestation of 'tempering the winds to the shorn lambs' was experienced. As the night was bitter cold and a keen north wind blowing, we prayed to God to control the elements for our good. Immediately it became warm enough for the sacred ordinance to be performed without the slightest inconvenience. Even the water seemed warmed many degrees.”
