Elder John W. Stoker's Healing of a Sprained Ankle

During the early part of March 1903, in Tokyo, Japan, Elder John W. Stoker sprained his ankle. The injury worsened over time and he was incapacitated for several days. The missionaries fasted and held a prayer meeting to administer to him. Immediately after they removed their hands from his head, Stoker stood up and leaped upon the previously lame limb, which was healed.

Elder John W. Stoker, writing from Tokyo, Japan, under date of March 24, 1904, says: 'During the early part of March, 1903, I sprained my ankle. It grew worse, and I was incapacitated for several days. The brethren fasted and held a prayer meeting, and administered to me. Immediately after they removed their hands from my head, I stood up and leaped upon the previously lame limb, which was healed.'

“During the forepart of March, 1903, Elder Stoker sprained his ankle and, in spite of the care taken, it gradually grew worse, and he was laid up for several days. The missionaries fasted a day and then held a meeting for the purpose of administering to their afflicted brother. As soon as their hands were taken off his head he stood up and leaped upon his once lame but now healed limb—a manifestation of the power of God in answer to prayer and faith. — Millennial Star 66:22”
