Elder A. F. G. Reeder, while serving as a missionary in the Welsh Conference, experienced the Lord's hand in his work. He testified that during his ministry, despite the challenges of the world and his own sense of insufficiency, he was sustained by the Lord, and his prayers were answered through the blessings of God and the administration of the Elders, which touched the hearts of the Saints.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 45, No. 44, 29 October 1883, p. 699):

Elder A. F. G. Reeder, writing from the Welsh Conference, says: 'I feel that the Lord has been with me in my labors. I have felt my own weakness and insufficiency, but the Lord has sustained me. My prayers have been answered, and the blessings of God, through the administration of the Elders, have touched the hearts of the Saints, and I feel encouraged to go on in the work.'

In Their Own Words

“On my arrival in England, President John H. Smith appointed me to labor in the Welsh Conference, which at that time I was called to labor in the Swansea and Carmarthen districts with Elder Llewellyn J. Mantle. If ever I felt to be humble and put my trust in the Lord, it was then; but in every instance my prayers were answered, and through the blessings of God and the administrations, the hearts of the Saints were touched, while many felt the Spirit of the Lord, and our labors were appreciated by all. ... I can say that the blessings of the Lord were always supplied without the necessity of asking for them, and my heavenly Father provided for me in a way I shall never forget, and also my brethren and sisters in the Welsh Conference for their kindness to me and my brethren—I say, from their hearts and feelings, and I feel to say may God, the Lord, reward you double for all your good works. I can only express my gratitude to my heavenly Father, for His blessings bestowed upon me, by performing my holy duty upon me with a testimony that the Lord has moved upon the hearts of the people while in the world, and I thank Him for observing the manifestations of the Spirit of God during my labors in the Welsh Conference. — Millennial Star 48:6”
