Elder C. W. Penrose recounts that while serving as a missionary in Maldon, he preached the Gospel, but the residents of the house where he preached rejected his message. He notes that subsequently, the cholera visited that family and destroyed them, which he views as a consequence of rejecting the truth.

In Their Own Words

“I remember first going forth to preach the Gospel in Maldon, where I am now appointed to labor again. The people right in the house where I first preached in Maldon, rejected the message I bore to them, and I now find the cholera has visited that family and swept them out of existence. This is only one instance of the results of rejecting the truth. — Millennial Star 28:15”
