Elder A. C. Davies's Success in Missionary Labors in Wales

Elder A. C. Davies reports that since arriving in the south-west part of Pembrokeshire, Wales, in October 1888 to work with Elder Thomas B. Davis, he has seen the fulfillment of a promise made by Apostle Heber J. Grant. Upon being set apart for his mission, Grant promised Davies that he would carry the Gospel to those who would accept it. Davies notes that he has been instrumental in baptizing thirty-three souls, twenty-six of whom had never heard the Gospel until he provided them with tracts, confirming the fulfillment of the apostolic blessing.

“Since leaving home I have taken great joy in my mission, and have seen the words of Apostle Heber J. Grant literally fulfilled, which he pronounced upon me when being set apart, wherein he told me I should carry the Gospel to those who would accept and obey its principles. I have been the honored instrument in the hands of the Lord in adding thirty-three souls to the fold by baptism; twenty-six of whom acknowledged they had not heard it until I brought tracts to their homes. I do not mention this by way of boasting, for I realize that Paul may plant, and Appolos water, but God alone gives the increase, and to His honor and glory; but I speak of it to show that when a servant of God is moved by the power and influence of the Holy Ghost his words will not fall to the ground unfulfilled.”
