While Edward Hanham was preaching at the Chapel in Bath, a mob broke windows and besieged his residence, repeatedly threatening to kill him. On a later occasion, after a meeting, the mob smashed twenty panes of glass and kicked the door, threatening to burn the chapel down. Hanham states he felt no fear, believing the arm of Omnipotence sustained him.
In Their Own Words
“On the 23rd, we held our meeting as usual; no interruption until the meeting was duly closed, then “hell seemed to be broke loose.” The police cleared the room, but I dared not venture out. About twenty panes of glass were smashed, the mob kicked the door in a very violent manner, and threatened to “fire the Chapel.” But I experienced no fear, for the arm of Omnipotence sustained me. — Millennial Star 19:34”
