During a thunderstorm in August 1882, lightning struck the premises of a man named Mr. Prince. It ignited stacks of wheat, and when the owner and others were extinguishing the flames, lightning struck the same spot a second time, scattering ashes over those present, yet no one was injured.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 44, No. 36, 4 September 1882, p. 571):

During a thunderstorm in August, 1882, lightning struck the premises of a Mr. Prince, in Salt Lake City, and ignited some stacks of wheat. While the owner and others were engaged in extinguishing the flames, the lightning struck the same spot a second time, scattering the ashes over those present, yet, strange to say, not one of them was injured.

In Their Own Words

“The saying that lightning never strikes twice in the same place, was disproved one day during August on the premises of Mr. Prince, at Salt Lake. During a thunderstorm the electric fluid ignited some stacks of wheat near the barn, and while he and others were engaged in putting out the flames, the lightning repeated its action, scattering ashes over those present, frightening all, but injuring no one. — Millennial Star 44:36”
