Divine Intervention Saving an Elder from Dogs

“I was travelling from Penrith to Bathurst, and had to pass through a very lonely part of the country, where the timber was very thick. I had been warned that a certain landlord, who lived on the road, was very much opposed to the 'Mormons,' and that he kept a number of savage dogs, which he was in the habit of setting on any of our people who might pass his house. As I drew near the place, I felt a strong impression that I should be molested. I had not gone far before I heard the barking of dogs, and looking back, I saw the landlord coming towards me with a pack of them. I knew that if they reached me, I should be severely bitten, if not killed. I felt that my only hope was in the Lord. While in this state I called on the Lord for help, and my prayer was heard; for as the dogs came near me a wallaby crossed my track in the timber and the dogs, seeing it, turned square about and pursued the animal and did not see me at all. I felt that the Lord had sent the animal to deliver me from the danger that threatened me, and I thanked Him for His protecting care.”
