While serving in Auckland, New Zealand, Elder George Batt felt a strong spiritual urge to go to a location (implied to be Auckland) to address something pressing. Despite being alone and having many calls upon his time, he laid the matter before the Lord and followed the spiritual promptings to travel to Auckland, where he successfully found needed support and restored order to the mission there.
In Their Own Words
“I had now received some important revelations, and felt prompted to come to Auckland to attend to something very pressing, and I knew what the Lord would have me do under the circumstances, as there was only myself from Zion in this island, and I had many calls to attend to. I laid the matter before the Lord and, in the city of Auckland, I found the Saints, some of whom I had heard were straying from the fold. I held a meeting with them, held a council, and set apart Elder John P. Sorensen to take charge of the mission in the middle island. I also visited the Saints in the Waikato district, and found them generally feeling well, though some were cold and indifferent. I held meetings with them, and endeavored to stir them up to diligence and faithfulness, and I believe my visit was productive of much good.”
