Brothers William, John, and Joseph Tippits prepared to travel to Zion in Missouri. When they came to bid farewell, several brethren prayed with them, with David Whitmer acting as spokesman. He prayed in the spirit, resulting in a glorious manifestation that filled the hearts of those present with joy.
In Their Own Words
“Brothers William, John, and Joseph Tippits started for Missouri, the place designated for Zion, or the Saints' gathering place. They came to bid us farewell. The brethren came in to pray with them, and brother David Whitmer acted as spokesman. He prayed in the spirit, and a glorious time succeeded his prayer, which cheered our hearts, and we then bid them God speed, and promised them a safe journey, and took them by the hand and bid them farewell for a season.— Millennial Star 15:22”
