Daniel Goulding — Healing from Poisoning in Australia
Published August 31, 2026 at 5:35 PM
While serving as a missionary in the Australasian Mission (specifically in the Tomago area of New South Wales), Daniel Goulding and his companion were reportedly fed poisoned food by an individual hostile to their message. According to the manuscript history, Daniel became violently ill and suffered the physical effects of the toxin. Through the exercise of faith and the administration of the priesthood, he was miraculously healed and the effects of the poison were neutralized, allowing him to complete his mission. This account is preserved in the DUP manuscript as a primary example of divine protection during his four-year mission (1854–1858).
