A young sister from Sweden, who had been driven from her home for accepting the gospel, successfully brought her mother to Copenhagen to be baptized in the mission house. The mother had obtained written permission from the father, and the missionary, Christian D. Fjeldsted, hoped to baptize the father soon.
The event took place at the Scandinavian Mission office located on Korsgade, Copenhagen, and was chronicled in a letter dated March 12, 1904, by Christian D. Fjeldsted.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
Such an incident happened just a few days ago, when a young sister from Sweden, who had been driven from her home for accepting the gospel, brought her mother here to Copenhagen to be baptized in the handsome baptismal fount, we have here in the mission house. The mother had a written permission from the father, allowing her to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You know we are not permitted to baptize any married woman without the consent of her husband. We hope also to have the privilege of baptizing the father in a short time.
