After twenty years of separation, Jeremiah Stone, a faithful Latter-day Saint, prayed for his daughter Muriel (nicknamed 'Chiquite') to join him in Utah. Though he received no word for weeks, he maintained a faithful vigil at his home. On Christmas morning, despite being on his deathbed, Jeremiah felt someone walking on the snow. His daughter, Chiquite, appeared in his doorway, having finally overcome obstacles to reach him. The reunion brought him great joy in his final moments.
In Their Own Words
“Suddenly, when no one else had heard a sound, something appeared in the doorway, and looking up they all beheld a young girl standing there in a heavy coat and furs... Then a cry of indescribable joy burst from the old man’s lips, and the girl ran to the bed and sank upon her knees. 'Oh, Chicky,' he whispered in unutterable joy, holding her two pink palms against his fevered cheek. 'Oh Chiquite! oh, Chiquite!' ... 'The Lord has heered my prayer at last,' he said. 'An’ I'm happy now, so, so happy.' — The Young Woman's Journal 17:1”
