Brother Thalbourne of Ipswich suffered the rupture of a blood vessel in October 1909. His recovery was despaired of by the attending physician, but Elders L. Vera Toolson and A. C. McCombs prayed over him and anointed him with oil, after which he recovered in an incredibly short time.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 71, No. 48 (December 2, 1909), p. 763):
Brother Thalbourne, of the Ipswich branch, suffered the rupture of a blood vessel on the 14th of October. His recovery was despaired of by the attending physician, but Elders L. Vera Toolson and A. C. McCombs administered to him, and he recovered in an incredibly short time.
In Their Own Words
“In October of this year, Brother Thalbourne suffered the rupture of a blood vessel, a thing so serious that his recovery was despaired of by the attending physician, but the same elders were called in and they prayed over him, anointing him with oil, according to the admonition of the Apostle James, and he recovered in an incredibly short time. — Millennial Star 71:48”
