Baptism and Answered Prayer at Mayville, Georgia

After a mob threatened Elders and the deacon's wife ordered them off her property, the missionaries continued their work. When persecutors drained the baptistry, the missionaries appealed to the Lord, and the pond miraculously filled in time for the baptisms of six converts.

Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):

We have been laboring in this part of the vineyard for some time, and have met with considerable opposition. We have been threatened by mobs, and ordered off the premises by the deacon's wife, but we have continued our work, and the Lord has blessed our labors. We have baptized six persons, and there are others who are investigating the truth. The converts were anxious to put off the “old man.” We went to the pond where we intended to baptize, but found that our enemies had drained it, thinking to prevent us from attending to the ordinance. We appealed the case to the Lord, and the pond filled up in time for us to baptize in it. And we really had a time of rejoicing at our meeting; our young lambs bore testimony to the truth of the great latter-day work, which caused the tears of other interested ones to express their conviction also.
