Anna F. Tarr’s Divine Sustenance and Protection on the Ship Thornton

Anna F. Tarr, a passenger on the ship Thornton, testifies that she was blessed with the living Spirit of God throughout the entire Atlantic voyage. She describes the journey as a joyful experience of divine providence, noting the protection of the Saints, the harmonious meetings, the attentive and kind behavior of the Captain and crew who were influenced by the Spirit, and her safe arrival in New York, where she felt she had received all that she stood in need of, both spiritually and temporally.

I have great pleasure in informing you of our safe arrival in New York, on the 19th instant, after a passage of 33 days from Liverpool. We have had a very pleasant voyage, and the Lord has been with us. I have felt the living Spirit of God with me all the way, and have had all that I stood in need of, both spiritually and temporally. The Saints have been protected, and our meetings have been harmonious and edifying. The Captain and crew have been very kind and attentive, and I believe they have been influenced by the Spirit of God for our good. I feel to rejoice and praise the Lord for His goodness to me. May the Almighty bless you, that you may be brought to this beautiful land.
