In the Bible, St. Mark 5:21-43 there is a story of a man named Jairus. He was the leader of a local synagogue in the time of Jesus. Jairus had a young daughter who became very ill, close to death. Jairus ran to Jesus and asked him to come heal his daughter. When Jesus arrived, after a delay healing a woman with an issue of blood, Jairus thought it might be too late. Jesus entered the room with the young girl. She was lying on the bed. Jesus took her hand and said "Daughter arise."

Shot through the Stomach

This story is very close to my heart. When I was almost four years old, on the fourth of July, in a quiet neighborhood, my brother and I were out playing in the front yard with some friends. One of the young boys (12 years old) decided to get in our family car and play. He found a gun that was under the seat stored there from when my father took my brother up in the mountains shooting cans. He then looked around and found the bullets. He loaded the gun, and then decided to point it at me. He said to me, "Move or I will shoot." I, being a stubborn four-year-old, would not move. He shot at the gutter, and then he aimed the gun at me and pulled the trigger. The bullet of the .22 pistol entered into my stomach and went through my back. It missed my spine by a centimeter. I dropped to the ground.

An Angelic Priesthood Blessing

My brother ran in to the house to tell my parents. My parents had heard the sound, but just thought it was fireworks. When they came out they found me lying on the ground. There was not a great deal of blood, but they noticed that a crowd had gathered. The ambulance came. While they were getting ready to take me, a man showed up all in white. This man gave me a priesthood blessing, and then disappeared. While this was happening on this side of the veil, I was watching from the other side of the veil.

Miraculous Healing

I got to the hospital and they did not see me bleeding a great deal so they put me to the side for a moment. When they opened me up they found out that I was bleeding internally. They took me into surgery, and took out 10 feet of intestines. They stitched up the holes in the front and the back. I was in the hospital for seven days; four days in intensive care, and three days in the children's unit. The day after I was released, I went swimming.

I know that there is life after death, and that the blessing of the priesthood brought me back to this earth.
