When Alma H. Hale was called to serve in the Joseph Horne Company, his wife, Sarah Annie, was 'sick unto death.' Alma expressed concern to his bishop about leaving his wife in such a critical condition to care for their farm and children. The bishop promised Alma that if he performed his duty faithfully, his wife would recover. Alma followed the counsel, and his wife subsequently regained her health.
