Mosiah Lyman Hancock recorded a firsthand account of a prophecy given by Joseph Smith in Nauvoo. According to Hancock, the Prophet Joseph Smith prophesied that the Latter-day Saints would eventually move to the Rocky Mountains and settle in the valleys of Utah, describing the geography and the future prosperity of the people in that region.
