While attending the April General Conference in the Salt Lake Tabernacle, William Blackburn witnessed President Heber J. Grant being sustained as President of the Church. During this event, Blackburn saw President Grant appear in the physical likeness of the late President Joseph F. Smith, and heard his voice as that of President Smith. Blackburn states that other persons also witnessed this event.
In Their Own Words
“I was over on the wing in the Tabernacle where the bishops and counselors sat, when President Heber J. Grant was sustained as the President of the Church, and as I gazed upon him he appeared in the likeness of the late President Joseph F. Smith, and his voice was President Smith's. I sat and gazed upon him in wonder and amazement, and as I listened I said to myself, "Can this be?" My heart burned within me, and my soul rejoiced. — Millennial Star 85:28”
