Audible Divine Voice Commanding Samuel Bent to Arise

Following the official disbanding of Zion's Camp in July 1834, Samuel Bent was called to serve a mission. During the march, Bent had been 'taken [ill] with the Ague' (a form of malaria) and was still suffering from the effects of the illness. As he was preparing to depart for his mission, he heard an audible divine voice command him: 'Samuel, arise immediately, and go forth on thy mission.' Despite his physical weakness, he immediately obeyed the command and proceeded on his missionary journey. This event is recorded as a significant spiritual intervention in his biographical records.
