The Inspired Recruitment of Hosea Stout

During the recruitment phase for the Pontiac division of Zion's Camp in May 1834, Lyman Wight's preaching was described as having a 'powerful' spiritual effect. Hosea Stout, who was not yet a member of the Church at the time, recorded that Wight's testimony regarding the redemption of Zion was so compelling that he could hardly refrain from joining the expedition immediately. This event is documented as a case of remarkable spiritual inspiration and influence exerted by Wight during the camp's formation.
