The Preservation of the Hamburg Mission Home

During the devastating firebombing of Hamburg, Germany, which destroyed vast sections of the city and killed thousands, the Latter-day Saint mission home and many of the homes of the local Saints were remarkably preserved. While the surrounding buildings were leveled by explosives or consumed by fire, the mission home remained standing, serving as a refuge for members and a center for post-war relief efforts. This preservation was viewed by the local Saints as a divine protection of the Church's property and people.
