Joseph R. Banks — Gift of Tongues during POW Escape

Joseph R. Banks and three fellow soldiers escaped from a Nazi prisoner-of-war camp and were attempting to reach safety when they were suddenly confronted by a German soldier who began shouting at them. In this moment of extreme danger, Banks, who did not know the German language, was inspired to speak. He found himself able to communicate effectively in German to the soldier, which allowed the group to pass safely and continue their escape. Banks later identified this as a manifestation of the gift of tongues.
