Bibliography Research
During the Black Hawk War in Southern Utah, Thomas Callister served as a Colonel in the Nauvoo Legion (militia). On one specific occasion while leading a company of men through Millard County, Callister received a distinct spiritual impression—a prompting of the Holy Ghost—to alter their planned route and camp in a different location. By following this divine guidance, the company avoided a planned ambush by hostile forces that were lying in wait along the original path, thereby preserving the lives of the men under his command.
