Shortly after her baptism in Scotland, Janet Douglas Calder became severely ill, to the point where her life was despaired of by those around her. She requested that the elders of the Church be called to administer to her. David O. Calder and another elder performed the ordinance of laying on of hands. Janet reported that the power of God was manifest immediately; the fever left her, and she was restored to health and strength in a remarkably short time. She and her family viewed this as a direct answer to prayer and a testimony of the restored priesthood power.
