Martha Ann Prior Jarvis — Divine Protection on the Trail to Dixie

In 1861, while traveling to the 'Dixie' mission in Southern Utah, the Jarvis family faced numerous perils, including treacherous river crossings and harsh terrain. Martha recounted an instance where their wagon was nearly overturned in a dangerous mountain pass. She felt a distinct spiritual impression or 'voice' guiding her on how to move and where to place the children to ensure their safety. The wagon righted itself in a way that seemed physically improbable to the witnesses, which Martha recorded as a case of divine protection over the pioneers called to settle the south.
