James Lewis Thompson — Miraculous Restoration of Sight

In his later years while residing in Southern Utah, James Lewis Thompson suffered from a severe and debilitating eye affliction, described in DUP records as 'granulated eyelids' or a similar infection that eventually resulted in total blindness for a period of three years. Despite seeking available medical treatments, he was told his sight would never return. According to the manuscript history by Willa Bagley, James sought a Priesthood blessing from local elders. Following the administration, his vision was miraculously restored, allowing him to read his scriptures and perform his duties without the aid of glasses for the remainder of his life. This event was widely cited by his descendants as a primary testimony of the power of the Priesthood.
