Jacob Hamblin — Healing of a Dying Child in Pleasanton

In the early 1880s, while Jacob Hamblin was residing in the frontier settlement of Pleasanton, New Mexico, he was called upon to administer to a neighbor's child who was suffering from a severe, life-threatening illness. The child had been given up to die by those present. Despite being physically weakened himself by recurring bouts of malarial fever (the 'chills'), Hamblin exercised his faith and the power of the Priesthood. He laid his hands upon the child and, through the power of prayer, promised the child life and a full recovery. The child began to improve immediately and was soon restored to health, an event recorded as a testimony of Hamblin's spiritual gifts even in his state of physical decline.
