On January 11, 1879, Joel Hills Johnson embarked on a mission assigned by President John Taylor to gather his family and colonize a location in Arizona under the United Order. Upon reaching Virgin City, Utah, he held a meeting where he delivered a lecture to a large and attentive gathering. Johnson recorded that he felt a powerful spiritual influence during the meeting, describing it as a 'good time' where the Spirit attended his words. He viewed this successful engagement and the strength to begin a new colonization effort late in his life as a manifestation of divine guidance and support.
