Israel Bennion: Fifteen Years as Bishop of Taylorsville (ca. 1880s-1900s)

Israel Bennion (1860-1933) was born to John Bennion and Esther Ann Birch on June 2, 1860, in Taylorsville, Utah Territory. He served for fifteen years as bishop of the Taylorsville Ward, following in the pastoral labors of his family. Like his father John, one of the 1847 pioneers, Israel gave himself to the shepherding of the Saints in the valley his father had helped settle. His long episcopate is a faith-promoting witness of the bishops who, generation after generation, tend the same ward and the same families with steady, unheralded faithfulness, building up Zion one congregation at a time.
