George Beard: A Faithful Latter-day Saint Bishop of Weston, Idaho (1834–1914)

George Beard (1834–1914) was a faithful Latter-day Saint who served as Bishop of Weston, Idaho, in 1886–1889 and again in 1891–1902. He appears in the first Utah State Legislature House of Representatives group photograph and is named among the settlers and public figures of early Idaho and Utah. Brother Beard's life is a faith-promoting witness of the faithful bishops who, in the small towns of the Intermountain West during the years of anti-polygamy pressure, shepherded their flocks, kept the wards going, and helped the Saints endure the hard years of the late nineteenth century.
