Recovery from Putrid Dysentery That Took Mother's Life

When Jonathan Crosby was eleven years old, he was taken with Putrid Dysentery, a serious disease that brought him near the point of death. His mother also became sick with the same disease and died on July 30, 1818. At the time of her death, she left two little girls, one four years old and another only three months old. Jonathan, though stricken with the same deadly disease, survived. This miraculous recovery, while his mother died from the same affliction, spared his life for future service in the gospel. It was through God's merciful intervention that Jonathan was preserved to fulfill his calling in the restored Church.
