About the year 1816, Solomon Chamberlain received a powerful vision showing him that there were no people on the earth who were right, that faith was gone from the earth except for a few, and that all churches were corrupt. The Lord showed him in vision that He would soon raise up a church that would be after the Apostolic Order, with the same powers and gifts that were in the days of Christ. He was shown that he should live to see that day, and that there would come forth a book like unto the Bible by which the people would be guided. This was many years before the Book of Mormon was published or the Church was organized. Solomon believed in gifts and miracles as a result of this vision and was much persecuted and called deluded for his faith. The vision came from an angel or spirit from the eternal world.
